On 15 September 2018, I wrote the following letter to the Minister of Broadcasting:

(Open Letter to the Minister of Broadcasting)

Dear Mr. Faafoi,

On TV One’s “Breakfast” programme yesterday, the news ticker-tape sliding across the bottom of our screens said that 40% of female suicides occurred in India.

I object to that. TVNZ has never mentioned the fact that many more men than women commit suicide, although lots of women attempt suicide unsuccessfully, so as to attract attention to themselves.

There is no point your saying that I should complain to the broadcaster and then to the Broadcasting Standards Authority, because I have experienced that process to be a total farce. Not only do these organizations always support women and Maoris at all costs, but they can also only deal with one incident or example at a time, whereas the above bias by TVNZ constitutes an ingrained and perpetual habit, rather than a temporary aberration.

What is needed is a permanent solution. There would be no point in my saying that the decent person’s only solution would be to blow those organisations up, because you would then just show your bullying face and say that it was a Police matter!

So could you please set up the Public Service position of “Men’s Truth-Teller to The Media” (paid, part-time) and appoint me to that position. I would them have the time and resources to monitor the media properly and would have the power to force them to include correctives to their anti-male propaganda on a continuing basis.

In due course, I received the following reply:

Summary Haiku:

Men have no rights,
but aren't less human.
We blame sexism.
